Show 5 Land Users I Help Wildlife Members of the Utah Recreation Land Users Committee Commit-tee continue to assist the Division of Wildlife Resources in wildlife programs. Their latest effort is a $200 contribution con-tribution that will help to pay for the installation of a water pump which will provide drinking water for the recently transplanted antelope in Puddle Valley. THE DIVISION of Wildlife Resources entered into a cooperative agreement with Jay Bertagnole, a local livestock operator, that will provide at least one source of water for the Puddle Valley antelope for an indefinite period of time. Bertagnole agreed to install the electric pump primarily to provide water for domestic livestock ;h but also provided for indefinite use by the Division for watering antelope during the dry summer months. The agreement called for a $200 payment by the Division to be applied to the initial installation costs. Members of the Recreation Land Users Committee donated the J2O0 from funds held by the organization to assist wildlife in the state. ASSISTANCE FROM the committee has helped in other projects during the last several yeaTS. Dj Approximately 26,000 bitter brush seedlings have been ' purchased, transported and planted under the direction of the committee. Boy Scouts have provided much of the ay labor needed to plant the seedlings in the range rehabilitation projects. In addition to the above-mentioned projects, the committee com-mittee provided labor and know-how to replace a large 1 water tank in the area where the new electric pump is being installed. MONEY FROM the Bureau of Land Management Ad-. Ad-. visory Board was used to purchase the $1 ,500 tank. A motorcycle mo-torcycle organization, which was blamed for the destruc-tion destruc-tion of the original tank, was instrumental in initiating the work project through the Land Users Committee. Rex Willden, President of the Utah Recreation Land Users Committee, emphasized the project was a , cooperative effort by the committee, the Bureau of Land Management and the Division of Wildlife Resources. ,A THE COMMITTEE has raised money, which is set " aside for wildlife programs, by selling Christmas trees 1 obtained from Division of Wildlife Resources land near Mayfield in Sanpete County. r ; : ; " |
