REETZ Captive Free will appear at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Bountiful on Thurs., Feb. 17, 7:30 p.m. The public is invited. CAPTIVE FREE is a full-time full-time Lutheran Youth Encounter En-counter team serving in the North Central region of the United States. Lutheran Youth Encounter, represented represent-ed in the Northwest by Lutheran Youth Ministries, is an independent resource ministry to the Christian Church, purposing to support the church in its growth and mission. Captive Free is the Lutheran Youth Encounter North-Central North-Central Regional Team traveling in the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota this coming year. Left to right, members of the team include: Steve Meyer, Mary Dove, Joel Lund, Joan Ofstedahl, Vaughn VerStoogt, Nancy Indreboand Diane Schuman. They will be at the Bountiful Community Church. The team is an inspirational aid and a resource to congregations, particularly in the area of youth ministries. Their primary goal is to share the good news of Jesus Christ. CAPTIVE FREE is composed com-posed of seven young people whose joy and privilege it is to share Jesus Christ through songs, skits, puppets and fellowship. The team leader, Steve Meyer, is a graduate of Wartburg College with a major in art. Steve has been active in the weekend Lutheran Youth Encounter teams at Wartburg. He has also spent the last three summers working at Sugar Creek Bible Camp in Ferryville, Wise. Steve's home is in Denver, Colo. DIANE SCHUMAN, from Decature, 111., is a graduate of Luther College with a major in health, physical education and coaching. She has served Lutheran Youth Encounter as a campus coordinator and as a summer and weekend team member. Nancy Indrebo, from Osseo, Wise, is a graduate of Waldorf Wal-dorf Junior College, majoring in music. She has been active in Lutheran Youth Encounter weekend teams at Waldorf and has served three summers as a counselor at Luther Park Bible Camp in Chetek, Wise. VAUGHN VER Steegt's home is west of Sully, Iowa. He has been employed since completing high school. Vaughn has also been a member of the Gospel singing group "New Beginning" from his home town area. MARY DOVE, from Janes-ville, Janes-ville, Iowa, is a graduate o Waldorf Junior College and Iowa State University in sociology. For the last three summers, Mary has worked with Pathway Camping Corporation Cor-poration in Northern Minn. Joan Ofstedahl has attended attend-ed Luther College and the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, majoring in art. She comes from a dairy farm near Holmen, Wise. Joel Lund is from Woodin-ville, Woodin-ville, Wash. He has graduated from the Seattle Lutheran Bible Bi-ble Institute where he served on the drama impact team. Joel has also served the Northwest as a member of a summer team from Lutheran Youth Ministries. Drama is one of Joel's main interests. |
