Davis struggled but defeated the Leopards 19-7 in Region Four prep opener last Friday afternoon. Upsets cause winner of football poll to pick only seven right Week Two of the Clipper Pick the Winner football contest con-test saw more misses than hits, as our winner got seven of 10 picks right, and was the only entrant to do that well. Beverly Jackson of Centerville, who cast her ballot at Dick's Hardware, missed on three games: TCU's slaughter slaugh-ter of BYU, Buffalo's win over Houston, and Atlanta's upset of Washington. But Beverly was one of the few entrants who did successfully pick Utah's win at Wisconsin Wiscon-sin and the Cowboy's upset of the Giants. For her efforts, Beverly will receive the $25 first prize courtesy of the Clipper and our 12 sponsoring merchants. Eight entrants successfully guessed 6 of the 10, and from those, two were selected in a random drawing for second and third place. Taking home the second prize money of $15 is Paul Kilpatrick of Bountiful, who entered at Willey Ford. He missed the TCU, Utah, Dallas and Atlanta wins. And third place ($10) goes to another lady, Joy Pearson of Centerville, who missed wins by TCU, Air Force, Dallas and Utah. Others who got six correct, but were not chosen in the drawing, were Karl Stone Of North Salt Lake, Dorothy Stone of Bountiful, Morris Jackson of Centerville, Beverly Bever-ly Thacker of Bountiful, Leonard Ure of Bountiful, and John Miller of Bountiful. Game three begins today, but this week, due to the pending NFL strike, we've selected all college games. Entries must be in by Friday at 4 p.m., and can be submitted submit-ted to any of the 12 merchants listed on today's ballot. Good luck, and get picking. |
