Show HAFB receives Huey choppers HILL AFB The 6514th Test Squadron at Hill AFB received four HH-1H "Huey" helicopters in September. The Hueys were transferred to the squadron from Detachment 4, 37th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Re-covery Squadron, Little Rock AFB, Ark., which is being deactivated deacti-vated under an Air Force reorganization reorgani-zation plan. "They flew in over the Wasatch Mountains after a long journey and a two-night stop at Petersen Field (Colo.)," said Capt. Alan D. Res-nicke, Res-nicke, 6514th TS executive officer. He said the Hueys are similar to the twin-engine helicopters currently being flown by members of Hill AFB's Det. 4, 40th ARRS, except that they have a single engine. After landing, the flight and maintenance crews (from Det. 4, 37th ARRS) who ferried the aircraft air-craft were given a traditional "wash down" doused with water wa-ter by a 6514th TS welcome party. Four of the flight crew members Capt. James Axelson and 1st Lts. Timothy Kunzweiler, Arthur Rice and Willie Newby will be reassigned to the 6514th TS to fly the Hueys. |
