Show The Last of the Denver Games. The Denvers and Salt Lakers played the last game of the series Saturday afternoon. The ground was in a terribly muddy condition, although the management manage-ment spread tan bark over it before the game came off. A comparatively small crowd was present on account of the inclement in-clement weather and other attractions. Martin pitched for the Denvers and West for the home nine. All sorts of playing was done by the two clubs, and the straight balls were batted easily, as it was almost impossible for anyone to pitch a curve with the ball so wet and muddy. The game was not finished to the ninth inning, and stood 28 to 8 in favor of the Denvers, when the Salt Lakers refused to go the bat, and the crowd left the grounds. The Denver boys extend a card of thanks to Messrs. Wagener, Denhalter and J. D. Spencer for courtesies extended them, and took yesterday morning's D. & It. G. express for Denver, where they meet the St. Joe nine this week in four games. , |
