Show WX Cat Tracks and most especially this year, has been extremely successful. Besides Be-sides Cindy's participation in the Wildcat musical, and among other things, children's theatre, Cindy has spent a great deal of time this year competing in dramatic interpretation. inter-pretation. Cindy has won many awards this year including a second place title at Berkeley out of 300 other participants, partici-pants, first place in region, and superior su-perior ratings at state. Cindy has also been selected to go back East this summer as a Utah representative representa-tive in the national drama competition, competi-tion, which is a very distinct honor awarded to only a few students in each state. Congratulations Cindy! We are proud to have you at Woods Cross. By SARA WILSON Often times in the world of sports, the varsity teams, most especially in spectator sports like football and basketball, receive all of the praise, attention and suppor-t. suppor-t. In hopes of changing such an unfair balance, we would like to recognize the other teams, who despite de-spite the fact that they either are not as successful or are not as well supported, these teams often put in many more hours and more dedication. dedica-tion. First of all, we would like to recognize rec-ognize our "other" Wildcat soccer team, our regular varsity team. With many state and region titles, is extremely successful, but very few people understand that the highly successful team of today began be-gan several years ago on the junior varsity and third division levels. This year's junior varsity team has certainly proven to be a learning learn-ing experience, and as the year progressed, the team improved with each and every game. Some of the outstanding players include Jason Dana, Doug Keiffer, Rob Smith, Dave Simon and Lane Lewis, and the list goes on and on. Under the J.V. coach, Tom Angelos, the team has been transformed trans-formed from a fractured team to a highly competitive team, but despite de-spite all this, the team has proven to be extremely successful as shown by their record of 12 wins and two ties with only three losses. The third division team under Dan Maroney has also proven to be a success, although it is not officially official-ly school sponsored. It gives extra players, as well as ninth graders, the chance to participate and learn from the experience. One of our outstanding members of this team is Drew Terry. We congratulate our other soccer teams for their success. The girls soccer team, likewise not school sponsored, has been given a chance this year, and have been recognized as an experimental experimen-tal program. With this as its first year, the teams' competition was not as serious, but it did prove to be a fun, successful experience. Some of those involved include Amber Taylor, Jeanna Jensen, Carrie Bel-mar, Bel-mar, Delphene Ashley, Suzi Green and Tanya Lane. The Wildcat tennis team is another team that puts in a good deal of work and has shown success. suc-cess. The team consists of Brad Robinson as first seed, Kirk Thomas Tho-mas second seed, Byron Makin-tosh Makin-tosh in third seed, and in doubles Scott Bell and Junichi Suzuki in first seed, Todd Fuller and Trent Thomas in second, with Andy Stephens playing alternate. The team, under Mr. Glover, has worked work-ed hard, and will have completed a great season. We congratulate all of our Wildcat Wild-cat teams, and appreciate the hard work and dedication that they put into their programs. We especially want to thank everyone who participates parti-cipates in our smaller sports programs, prog-rams, because even though it is not always as obvious, we do appreciate appreci-ate your commitment to Woods Cross. The Wildcat student of the week is our talented Cindy Rogers. Cindy is extensively involved in the Wildcat drama department, |
