After the "investigating" committee of the City Council had concluded its labors last evening, Mayor Sharp took the chair, and the regular business of the City Council was begun. " - Alma Pratt asked that the Council reimburse re-imburse him for his personal expenditure of over $1,000 on the city carriage drive during the past three years, as he had received but $500 by way of private subscriptions. sub-scriptions. ' . j j Mr. Nash, a proprietor with M. R. j j Murray in the collapsed Bureau saloon, stated that Murray defrauded him by dis-j dis-j posing of the goods, and asked that he be now refunded the license as asked. Referred. . The following dealers were granted retail liquor licenses : Auer & Murphy, Hogle Bros., John Lollin, Barr & Bour: gard, Bernhard & Stahl, G. S. Erb, Ew-ing Ew-ing & Fallon, Jake Leviberg, Newman & Reed, A. L. Gemmill, Hill & Trewhela, B. C. Harvey, W. A. Pitt, A. Podlech, F. Smith, Williams & Gerrans, W. Schade, Tufts & Nystrom, B. F. Whittemore and O. Youngberg. Godbe Pitts Drug Company Com-pany and the Z. C. M. I. were given wholesale licenses for three months. The A. Fisher Brewing Company was granted a manufacturers' license. The Marshal's report of expenses in his department for November amounted to $510.72, and was referred to the Police Committee. The Chief Engineer submitted his expenditure ex-penditure report in the City Fire Department Depart-ment for last month, which amounted to $273.75, and was properly referred. Johanna Olson was remitted her license as asked. The petition of C. Foster and others asking for the cleaning of a water ditch, was examined, and reported that the watermaster had reported the work done. John Kay, S. G. Read, Mary Lafitte, Thomas Harris, C. Carish, Joseph Smith j and Mrs. Mary Rideout were remitted i their peddler's license as prayed. The Public Grounds Committee recommended recom-mended that A. T. Case be leased the I Tenth ward square for 1886 as requested. Adopted. The property holders on Third South 6treet, taxed for paving the sidewalk from the Clift to the Metropolitan Hotel, entered en-tered no complaints, and the tax was affirmed. af-firmed.
