Show V THE NEPHI SHOOTING AFFRAT. A Growing Belief That It Was Accidental-Prisoner's Father a San Francisco Hotel . Keeper. The shooting affray at Nephi last Sunday Sun-day which resulted fatally to Forrest Green, of Lehi, has called forth much comment as to the real causes which led to the terrible affair, and there has been and still is a difference of opinion among the citizens of Nephi respecting the propriety pro-priety of liberating Pearson, who committed com-mitted the deed, on bail. It would appear ap-pear from the.fact of the two young men having been on friendly terms, that something some-thing may yet develop to give to the incident in-cident a very different complexion from that of premeditated murder, and the following fol-lowing clipping from the San Francisco Evening Post, which identifies young Pearson as a son of H. H. Pearson, manager man-ager of the Baldwin Hotel, will tend to confirm this theory: Young Pearson is the son of H. H. Pearson, the manager of the Baldwin Hotel in this city. The father is prostrated pros-trated by the news, but cling3 to the belief be-lief that the shooting was accidental. Last evening he received the following dispatch: Nephi, January 11, 1885. H. H. Pearson, Baldwin Hotel, S. F.: Henry accidentally killed his friend yesterday. yes-terday. Do not believe newspaper reports. Will write fully. Chas. A. Peabson. He has telegraphed for full particulars, and is awaiting an answer. He expects to go to Utah to-day or to-morrow. Mr. Pearson says that his son was never a drinkinor man.' and. was alwavs on thf most friendly terms with Green. They came to San Francisco together at one time, and Green was Pearson's guest for several months. , At the time of the affray, the two young men were each about 24 years old. Green was employed by young Pearson, who was engaged in the stock business on a ranch below Leamington, Millard county, Utah, on the Sevier river.' Pearson was here lately, and went to Utah about three months ago. |
