Show ... Ogden's Hero. The Chicago Herald of the 11th inst., speaks of Editor Hemenwav in the follow ing terms : . The Mormon editor at Salt Lake TOgden whose conviction of criminal libel was recently re-cently announced, has been permitted by the court to resume his professional duties on probation for one month, with the understanding under-standing that if he returns to his former practice of slandering people he will be called up for sentence. Any one familiar with the Utah press will perceive that . this proceeding on the part of the court is a most extraordinary one, but it comes very near being cruel and unusual punishment, and therefore unconstitutional, to make a Mormon editor tell the truth for a month. |
