Show NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT, G. A. B. Some Information Respecting the Twentieth Anniversary to he - Held in San Francisco Next Anst. Circular No. 1 regarding the Twentieth National Encampment, G. A. R., has just been issued by the general committee commit-tee of management. Extracts from it are as follows: , Comrades : The General Committee of Management of the Twentieth National Encampment, G. A. R., to be held in San Francisco in : the year 1886, take pleasure in- announcing to Comrades throughout the United States the very favorable terms that have been secured by such committee in the way of transportation trans-portation from the Eastern States to the State of California', in connection with and for the benefit of Comrades of the G. A: R., members of the W. R. C, and of kindred organizations, their families and female relatives, who may desire to attend such Encampment, or visit California Cali-fornia during the summer of 1886. In so far as transcontinental rates from railroad centres on the Missouri river to San Francisco are concerned, the whole subject matter of such rates, and who may secure the benefit of the very liberal offer made by transcontinental lines, is fully set forth in a report of the Transportation Transpor-tation Committee to the General Committee, Com-mittee, made on the 26th day of October, 1885, which reads as follows:. To the General Committee of Management Twentieth National Encampment, O. A.. R.: We take pleasure in stating that the several overland railroad lines from Omaha, Kansas City, and other Missouri river terminal or junction points, have made arrangements for transportation .to San Francisco and return, account Twentieth Twen-tieth National Encampment, G. A. R., as follows : - Excursion tickets from the points named above will be $50 for the round trip. . Similar joint arrangements have been made by the roads leading west from St. Louis, Cairo, Memphis, New Orleans, Mineola and Houstan, with proportionate rates. Assurances have been given to the effect that roads east of the above named cities and junction points will make reasonable rea-sonable rates, probably as low as those made in the opposite" direction for this year's Encampment (held in Portland, Maine, in June last), and we hope at an early date to give the rates from principal eastern cities. The rules and regulations governing the sale of G. A. R. excursion tickets established estab-lished by the Transcontinental Association, Associa-tion, comprising the Pacific lines west of the junction points named above, in sections sec-tions 1 and 3, are as follows : "Excursion tickets will be sold for the use of the members of the Grand Army of the Republic and Women's Relief Corps, kindred organizations, uniformed military bodies, and all old soldiers, including in-cluding families and female relatives. Persons belonging to families as herein mentioned and female relatives must be accompanied and identified by members of one of the classes named. Members of the G. A. R. must present certificates of membership, signed by the Adjutant or Commander of the Post to which they belong, and similar certificates must be presented by members of the other classes named. "Railroads and steamship lines of Cal ifornia and the Pacific Coast generally, have already expressed intention and willingness to make reasonable reductions reduc-tions from local rates, for individual, party or special train excursion tickets during the Encampment period. As such special rates will'depend upon the nature of the tours that may be. presented, combining com-bining rail, water and stage routes, for the pleasure and information of visitors, we find it impracticable, if not quite impossible, impos-sible, to give in detail such excursion rates that may be made applicable on this occasion. At the same time, we hope in another circular of subsequent date to publish some features of prominent tourist's tour-ist's routes to localities of interest in California Cal-ifornia and other Pacific Coast States and Territories. "With the belief that all visiting this city during the Encampment period will be satisfied with the experiences and results thereof, I remain, "Very respectfullly, "T. H. Goodman, Chairman. Geo. W.
