Show Some gossip-has started the story that the Pope is said to dread the approach of his seventy-fifth year, because a gypsy j predicted that he would be in peril at that time. Papal omens received a severe se-vere shock when Pius IX. survived the twenty-fifth year of his pontificate. No Pope had ever "seen the years of Peter," and the belief that none ever would, was perhaps the most widely spread and solidly sol-idly grounded superstition of history. After the disproof of that, the prophecips of a gypsy need not cauBe much alarm. |
