Little" Rock, Ark., January.' 8. Sixteen penitentiary convicts who have , been em- loyed in the mines at Coal Hill, in this tate, effected their escape Wednesday. They tunneled a. distance of thirty-five feet. Two were captured, but the fourteen others made their escape. Bloodhounds and a posse are in pursuit. . Hotel Blaze This Morning. Buffalo, N. Y., January 8. The St. James Hotel at Batavia was entirely destroyed by fire this morning. There were many narrow escapes Two men jumped from the fourth story and were severely injured.
