Havana, January 31 Owing to unfavorable unfavor-able news from abroad the sugar market opened weak and continued so until near the close, when the sellers became more desirous de-sirous of trading, and many sales were made in consequence. At the outports holders are too high for buyers. Light rains have interrupted inter-rupted work on the sugar plantations. Molasses Mo-lasses sugar, regular to good; Polarization, 224 reals; Muscovado, fair to good refining, re-fining, reals; Centrifugal, 90 to 96; Demeres Polarization, 33J reals. Stocks in warehouses at Havana and Matanzas, 6,100 boxes, 170,000 bags, and 5,409 hhds. Beceipts of the week, 1,700 boxes, 50,000 bags, 1,803 hhds.- Exports during the week, 218 boxes, 30,500 bags, and 500 hhds.of whioh all the bags and 421 hhds go to the United States. |
