It is authoritatively authori-tatively stated that there exists near the villago of Spring .Grove, Hauston . county, Minn., and near this place, a largo number of cases of leprosy The afflicted persons are all Scandinavians. The first case which appeared was npon the person of an c!d man, and was at first thought to be measles, as I red spots appeared all ovefhis body. Later he was seized with excruciating pains in- his limbSj'and the pxtremities began to wither. This continued, and tha epidermis began, to scale off, and now there is but a semblance of skin over the body, which retains its flesh, but the-limbs have withered and dried until the fingers and toes seem like sticks and ready to drop off. This disease dis-ease also exists in three other families, all related. Physicians from Deoorah say that it is imported, and perhaps contagions. |
