The sailors of the United States revenue cutter "Richard Rush," which leaves for the Arctic Ocean in a few days in search of the crew of the whaling whal-ing bark "Amethyst," supposed to bo lost, have manifested much discontent over the clothing issued them for the voyage. They say the clothing is inadequate for the rigors of an Arctic trip, especially so at this season of : the year. Senator Fair proffered " $5C0 toward the purchase of warmer clothing, but Captain Hooper was obliged to deolino the offer. It is believed, however, the Senator will be permitted to offer each individual sailor soma extra winter clothing" as a New Year's gift, and in this . way provide them with these necessities. . : . |
