Show No Snrpln3 Lead on Hand. . During the week lead has ruled with extreme ex-treme steadiness, at all the distributing' points. New York shows sales of 400 tons at $4.G) to $4. 70, all domestic common com-mon lead - and ,for . January delivery, while St. Louis and Chicago record as much more at $1.33 to, $4.40 and $4.50. The deliveries on all December contracts are extremely tardy and nunv-tongued rumor affirms that January will sec con siderable lively buying in under the rule but even without that additional stimulus stim-ulus the year closes on the strongest situ-ation situ-ation in lead that we have had at any time within the past -ten year3. There are literally no stocks whatever, East or West. The Richmond surplus has been reduced to a bagatelle, and no signs of any material increased production show themselves anywhere. W e may feel confident con-fident of a fairly long peiiod of prices close to importation limits, aud it would hot be surprising to see those limits (now $4.75 in New York) advanced any day, as all the English circulars admit the absence ab-sence of any large Blocks and the extremely ex-tremely low price relative to . the actual intrinsic value of lead. |
