General Fitz Hugh Lee was indux.led into office to-day in present pres-ent of the Aesambly of Virginia, gathered in jolni oonveation in the hall of tho House of Delegates.-. The colored man t laughingly replied, "Governor, I believe it ilST'It was'iin TOnusing" incident;" and no ! one enjoyed it more than Governor Lee. GREETING BX AN OLD C0MBADE. Captain E. M. Hayes, of the Fifth United Slates Cavalry, who was a bosom friend and companion of Governor Lee when the latter was a Lieutenant in the same regiment before be-fore the war, and who came all the way from Indian Territory to be present at the inauguration, inau-guration, was among the crowd, and when Governor Lee spied him he hailed the Captain Cap-tain with, "Hello, Jack, how are yon to-day?" To which Captain Hayes answered, "Very well, Fitz ; allow me to congratulate you and a warm and cordial grasp of the hand followed. As soon as the assemblage had dispersed, Governor Lee proceeded to his office in the Capitol, when the retiring Governor turned the office over to him. Ex-Governor Cameron Cam-eron remained in the hall during the reception, recep-tion, and was greeted by many of those present. , |
