Show HAS APOSTLE CANxW SKIPPED? Humors To-Day That He Has Again Taken the Underground. A rumor gained extensive circulation this afternoon that George Q. Cannon had again taken the "underground," and while it caused considerable excitement, and in some quarters not a little astonishment, astonish-ment, there were a great many who accepted ac-cepted the report as a literal fulfillment of their expectations. It was impossible in the short time this afternoon to trace the rumor to anything like definite particulars, but it was ascertained from very excellent authority that Mr. Cannon Can-non had left his home, and the general presumption will be, indeed it already is, that he has skipped in order to avoid his examination next Wednesdav. What seems to give the" story additional addi-tional backing is the well known fact that for many days past parties who are indirectly indi-rectly interested and concerned in Mr. Cannon's bonds have expressed a desire to see the financial responsibilities shifted, shift-ed, and have quietly offered a good premium pre-mium to this end. Of course Mr. Cannon is not wanted till the 17th, and it is nobody's no-body's business where he spends his time during the interim, but among those who have always doubted that he would be forthcoming on the appointed day there is a feeling of settled confidence that he has gone the way of Joseph Mc-Murrin, Mc-Murrin, notwithstanding his severe injuries in-juries and prostrate condition. |
