Show JDI WATSON NOT GUIlTY The Genial iViprhfivatcliman is Not to lie Caught Nap pi lie Jim Watson the rotund uightwatch man was arrested late yesterday afternoon after-noon on the usual charge and being taken before Judge McKay he was required re-quired to give a temporary bond of 1500 to insure his appearance this morning The rumor had gained circulation that both of Watsons wives were about to become be-come mothers and it was doubtless upon this ground that the arrest was made The case came up in Commissioner McKays office this morning at 10 oclock Several witnesses had been summoned Mr Varian < acting for the prosecution and Mr Moyle for the defense The first and second wives and several relatives were sworn and testified but the testimony I testi-mony elicited was not of sufficient weight to warrant binding Watson over on probable prob-able cause and lie was therefore discharged dis-charged The genial Jim left the Commissioners Com-missioners rooms with a smile on his face as broad as a Sanpete slapjack When last 1 seen he and the News reporter were at the Tithing office where the saintly scribe drank Watsons health in a bumper of tithing cider taking for a toast Brother Watson may you never be caught and may your shadow grow less Amen said Jim congratulat ing himself on having escaped from once more bocoming a 1 martyr for religions sake |
