Show THE SAN PETE VALLEY ROAD The Trip of Messrs Bennett and Uambertrcr Through the County Mr J H Bennett of the D R G and Mr Simon Bamberger of the San pete Valley road left this city Sunday morning in a special over the Utah Central Cen-tral and arriving at Manti they took a special over Mr Bambergers road and made a trip through Sanpete county I The prime object of the tour was pleasure and Mr Banherger states that their object was attained Arriving at Chester the terminus of the road they took the stage for Manti the sight of the new Mormon Temple They enjoyed the view from Temple Hill but were for some reason or other refused entrance to the building They then drove across the country to Thistle in time to catch yesterdays D It G train at that point and arrived home again last evening In reply to the questions of a DEMOCRAT reporter as to whether the visit meant anything in the railroad sense Mr Bam berger this morning said that it mignt mean something and it might not He admitted that there had been some talk among the D R G people of trying to buy out his road but he said that nothing I noth-ing at all definite had yet been arrived at He however recognized the fact that talk does not always mean action and could therefore say nothing as to I how the matter would turn out In case 41 tile Luuttci oituuiu Come LU iv iicuu now ever it is likely that the D R G would connect the Nephi terminus of the road with the Spanish Fork station on their road and thus make a through line from Salt Lake to Manti In regard to his road Mr Bamberger states that he is pushing the work of grading between Chester and Manti and I expects the line open to the latter by theI I time the temple opens in the spring The grade has already been finished for a good part ofthe way and will shortly be completed |
