Show WHO HAS FLOPPED The Republican organ says this morning morn-ing Sherman is sound on everything that Republicans believe in except silver What does this mean Has the R 0 received a grapevine special that the Ohio statesman has come over to the bimetalic financial policy 1 Heretofore Here-tofore if there was anything upon which he was in harmony with his party it was the silver question Less than five percent per-cent of the Republican members ot both Houses of Congress voted to sustain the unlimited coinage clause in the Bland bill and less than ten per cent supported the bill after it was amended to the maximum and minimum limits About the same proportion of Democrats voted with the Republican majority upon the same propositions Sherman at that time was certainly in accord with his party at least with ninety or ninetyfive per cent of it as represented re-presented in Congress He was moreover more-over the originator of the cry so presistently echoed by the R 0 a year or so ago that it would be an infamous outrage upon the part of the Government to pay any portion of the National indobtedness in silver Who then has flopped the R 0 the Republican party or John Sherman But we forget ourselves There should be no political distinctions drawn in Utah |
