Show SLIGHTLY MISTAKEN Re Is and He IB Not Two len Implicated Im-plicated On account of no definite information having reached this city from Bingham regarding the recent killing of a man up there the particulars meagre a they are have been very mucn mixed Our contemporary the Tribune this morning had it that a man by the name of Jim Osborne was the victim of tho assault as-sault and that three years ago he had been m a row with one Lightman in Minersville in Beaver county in which row he was badly stabbed and so on This account is considerably mixed upI up-I is true that the name of the man killed is Jim Osborne not C H Osman as before reported but the man who had the trouble in Minersville is another party entirely A reporter of this paper being acquainted with the man from Minersville whose name by the way is Wesley Osborne and who has been lately working at Bingham called at his home this morning to ascertain ascer-tain the facts of the case supposing sup-posing that he had been killed As the reporter approached the house Ip and behold who should be standing in the door tossing a baby about but Wesley Osborne the man from Minersville and who has been in the city for the past two weeks Having thus been assured that the wrong man was connected with the Bingham homicide the reporter called up by telephone Barney Quinn the postmaster at Bingham Mr Quinn said that the preliminary examination of the accused had just ended It resulted in tie binding over of the Cornishman John Taylor and one Bonz to await the action of the next Grand Jiry for the killing of Jim Osborne who came to his death by blows inflicted either by a club or a stone The row occurred Monday morning about 8 oclock not at Mclnnis saloon Itit a little below that place Osborne died about two hours after the wounds were inflicted The prisoners will be brought to town this evening and taken out to the Pen Frank Hoffman who happened to be out at Bingham at the time of the affray was engaged to direct the case for the prisoners While THE DEMOCRAT reporter was talking with Mr Wesley Osborne he said he would like also to correct the statement made in the Tribune this morning as t his connection the Miners vie affair Mr Osborne say the occurance took place four years ago last Christmas day On that day some foot racing had been going on After it was all over Frank Roberts and Charley Lightner got into words over the result of the races and Lightner up and thrashed Roberts Soon after the fight Osborne twitted Roberts about letting so small a man as Lightner whip him whereupon Lightner asked him if he wanted anything of that sort and made a break for him Osborne at the time was playing billiards and says that had he known his assailant to have been armed with a large I pocket knife not a dirk he could and would have laid him out with a cue instead in-stead of laying i down as he did and entering en-tering the fight empty handed I cost Lightner J599 to stab Osborne and the latter was vindicated from any unjust provocation in the matter |
