Show Boxing tip the Tramps CHICAGO June 23William Dean conductor con-ductor on a Chicago Alton freight train yesterday saw a gang of young men break into one of his cars that was loaded with valuable merchandise Ho had no time to secure their arrest then so calling his brakeman they crept up to the car and before be-fore the unsuspecting burglars could escape closed tho door on them and fastened it securely se-curely The train then started on its way north and when it reached Eighteenth street this morning the eleven men who were found in the freight car were placed under arrest When arraigned before Justice Jus-tice Poote today the conductor stated that the company were bothered by a gang of men who broke into freight cars and after throwing out as much merchandise as they could carry away would jump off go back along the track and collect their plunder The men under arrest claim they saw the door of the car open and intended to steal a ride for a few miles and had no intention of stealing anything else The men were put under bonds I |
