countries countries countries coun coun- tries for anywhere from a couple of weeks to an entire year study abroad program helps students get on hands-on experiences experiences experiences through their college courses while in a different country Many students have taken classes such as foreign languages or humanitarian aid courses and then used their book knowledge in the real world via the study abroad program Study abroad are programs that allow students to travel with a group leader to a foreign country for a certain amount of time Sandra Kikuchi said Interested students can travel to Europe Asia and South America and earn college credit for their study abroad experience Ninety nine percent of all of our study abroad trips have courses tied to them Kikuchi uchi said Kikuchi added that the Osaka Japan study abroad trip is tied to the Humanities 1900 class Students who participate in the Osaka trip visit museums and other places to learn about Japanese culture The students also learn how to travel around Japan by using the public transportation system According to the Study Abroad program online the Osaka trip is hosted by International Buddhist University located in H city Europe and actually see the art they've studied She explained that other students participate in the study abroad program to do humanitarian work The Vietnam trip is really interesting Kikuchi added She explained that students who take this trip are usually in the nursing program They visit Vietnam for two weeks and work in villages giving health care to those in need This allows the nursing students students students stu stu- stu- stu dents to get real experience in helping patients Study abroad program costs are dependant on the length of the trip For a three week trip students may pay around 1700 and for a 7 week trip the student could pay Pricing usually includes airfare lodging program- program related fees and airport trans trans- Students who attend would need to plan expenses for their passport meals laundry and other personal expenses Students attending also will need to pay the tuition for the class associated with the pro pro- gram The pricing for study abroad might be still prohibitive for many students Occasionally students manage manage manage man man- age to find help finding the money to participate with Study abroad through financial financial financial finan finan- cial aid In the study abroad programs programs programs pro pro- grams the group leader decides what excursions and other activities will be available during the trip The study abroad trips are planned based on participation Each trip needs eight to ten students to make the program work said that several of the upcoming trips planned for the Spring Semester 2005 were cancelled due to the thelow thelow thelow low number of students enrolled However its it's likely that the trips will be offered in the future Students who'd like to visit a country not available through can make arrangements through the study abroad offices Kikuchi explained that sometimes students travel on their own or travel with another student from another college or university when they want to create
