| Show The Sharpened Point By Kimbal Ingram thy a n. n nf 1 lack of emotion 2 indifference listlessness rant igno 1 lack of knowledge knowledge knowledge know- know ledge or experience 2 2 caused by or ors s showing owing lack of knowledge 3 unaware 00 of In journalism knowing words and their meanings is a primary requirement for if a journalist uses uses c certain words in conjunction with with with-a a person person or people and they happen to tobe be false that journalist is in for a avery avery avery very rough time at least publicly and at worst legally So before I called the students at apathetic and ignorant I 1 wanted to b be sure of what I was talking about students are apathetic or and/or ignorant and Ill I'll prove it through this column Even though Ive I've been on this campus only one quarter its it's been easy to notice that the students here are not overly concerned about their education or school For example a couple of Horizon issues ago a poll sheet was placed in the paper concerning the possible more than likely change to a trimester semester calendar here at It was placed in the paper because earlier discussions and nd polls had shown there was not much information from those involved After that issue only three responses came back Apathy or or f ignorance L Lets Let's et s see Apathy is a lack of Emotion an an j i indifference If those who guide this school can make decisions about decisions about its direction I without student input even asked for then that must be apathy of indifference because unless were we're a school of zombies were we're not lacking emotions Ignorance There is no excuse for for being uninformed on this campus Th There re is a body of dedicated student body officers who have numerous activities and forums that can help the students know what is going on around them Also there is the newspaper This newspaper belongs to the students for for- forwe we operate from students' students fees nothing else These pages are students media for letting school officials know how students feel But every week when the new papers are re put out there are a couple of hundred old papers that have never been off the stand If we can hope that at least two people will read one issue picked off the chair table or restroom floor that adds up to four or five hundred opinions that are not heard from Now granted the newspaper has not been the most informative and sometimes perhaps irresponsible irresponsible sible but that in itself condemns the students instead of simply not reading the paper become involved with the paper There are numerous suggestion boxes around campus the T ACCO building is not hard to find where the newspaper office is so why dont don't we have more responses more lette letters to the pe editors Why are the students here so unresponsive why dont don't they care about how their own wl money y is f i J being spent 7 J Q JI T TI I have an a answer about people who allow themselves to be led around like sheep a and d I dont don't think the students are going to like it it stu-pid stu 1 lacking normal intelligence 2 2 foolish silly 3 3 dull and boring Now lets let's see what happens |
