Show International Work Camps To Be Available In Eastern And Western Europe More than young Americans are expected to volunteer for international al work camps in Eastern and Western Europe this summer Though little known in the US U.S. international international international inter inter- national work camps have been operating for more than 30 years and bring together thousands of young people from around the world each year to work on projects that benefit the local community The Council on International Educational Educational Educational Edu Edu- Exchange the largest student travel organization in inthe inthe inthe the US U.S. has been a sponsor of the work camps since 1982 Usually 4 2 weeks in duration the camps provide free room and board to volunteers Projects for this summer include restoring castles and forts and excavating ancient sites in Portugal Czechoslovakia France and Spain community work in Denmark Turkey Wales Germany and Holland and agricultural and ecological programs in Poland Hungary and Ireland There are no special skills required of volunteers simply a willingness to get involved and an open-minded open approach English is spoken at most camps except in France and Spain where the native language is used Many participants use this opportunity to improve their language skills Volunteers must be at least 18 years old except in Germany where 16 year-olds year are accepted Beyond a modest program fee of there is no cost other than the airfare For more information and an application application application cation contact ClEE International Work Camps East St. St New NewYork NewYork NewYork York NY Telephone |
