J 1 01 t t.- t. I was satisfied that he had found the college that would provide Mohammed with the hig highest est quality education in his field of study Duty Heavy Mechanics program was selected as the best technical program offered in the United States On May 2 1985 Mohammed along with his wife and two children Gofran and Yousef made their journey from their homeland to Salt Lake City Utah his first six months at Westminister College where he learned to speak English Currently Mohammed is finishing his fourth quarter at working towards an AS degree in heavy duty mechanics In addition to mechanics Mohammed h has s also tak taken n classes in management electricity and physics Mohammed's intense desire to help his country is reflected in his schoolwork He ha has consistently maintained 17 to 18 credit hours per quarter and has been on the Deans Dean's list all four quarters Mohammed has exhibited qualities th that t have led his teachers and advisors to encourage him to further his education beyond by obtaining a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering When asked what he liked best about America Mohammed responded enthusiastically I can find books about anything I want If someone were to break into my home Id I'd rather they steal anything that I own but my books They are the most valuable things I own Mohammed replied without hesitation when asked if hed he'd like to stay in America after his education is is' completed My country needs me more than America Im I'm not looking for money but serving my country Mohammed and his family are adjusting well to life in America and have made many new friends but they are anxious to return to Jeddah Mohammed expressed a desire to thank those people who have helped to make his stay in America a a p pleasant and memorable experience Among those people are Larry Landward Mohammed's academic advisor and Hyrum Smith who helped and encouraged him through his first quarter These men represent their country well Mohammed commented o When I return home I will tell everyone in inSa Sa Saudi 9 diAr a b. b la bo u t theme th Il M L 4 4 O M Mohammed h anticipates graduation in the Summer Slimmer of 1988 Currently Mohammed is the only one in Salt Lake City from Saudi Sandi Arabia that is participating in this training program Because of good relation with Saudi Arabia hopefully Mohammed will only be the first of many more mor such fine students Good luck Mohammed t |
