Show Letter To The Editor I Dear bear Editor Recently while talking with some workers co-workers I mentioned that I was taking classes at One of them responded Oh youre you're going to old Redwood High huh I had to stop and wonder if we ask for that attitude For example look at all of ot the little contests that are always being held on campus So far Jar this year t there ere has been the Pumpkin Carving Contest the Halloween Costume C Contest the Beard Growing Contest just to name a few Why not add the Coloring Book Contest or the Ro Skipping Rope kipping Contest or even the Four Four FourSquare Square World Championship They would allbe all allbe allbe be on about the same same ma maturity ty lev level It is about time that the Executive Committee C discovered that this is an n. n institute of higher hi 1 learning earning not i f. f a junior high school And if that is too uppity for them they might consider the ages of the students they are representing According Ac to the 86 1985 Catalog 50 percent of all students attending this college are 29 21 I years old while 39 percent are over 30 Most students who study here have jobs and dont don't have time tune to participate in such activities I would like to suggest that the money spent on these and other small contests be saved and nd put to a better use such as bringing guest speakers on campus If these speakers were chosen properly a mu much larger percentage of students would benefit It might also aIso get getus tusson us some e respect t. t I.
