H y 1 The office of Vice-president Vice is less demanding and requires about 30 hours a month The main job of the VP is to be the president of the senate and fill hi m where and when the president needs help It is an advantage for the vice president to have a good working knowledge of Leadership skills are helpful However doing the job for a year will help increase skills and expertise in leadership VP publications-next publications to the president this is the most demanding job It requires about hours a month not counting the 10 hours a month in meetings The person 0 wanting this job needs business management budgeting English art and layout and organizational skills The newspaper also needs a good writer and photographer to assist There can be other people on campus involved but it is necessary for the person in hi this position to be aware o of all that's going on on campus Files need to tobe be kept kep advertising adv ing accounts cco letters sen sent to people that have ave appeared pp a on on cam campus and me memos memo's o to all departments to keep informed of all vt S s a b glob of cai I 1 1 tj VP pi relation public relation is in charge barg of tie new student orientation tion each quarter the thea a awards banquet at the end en of the year the year and is responsible for advertising all aU the activities on i campus campus pus This job requires a a lot Jol tot tot-of Of enthusiasm and a creative tie imagination Wi Willingness hi s to do the job and an interest t r J Mall in aU campus campus activities es is iS' important It requires about 75 hours a month to do this job VP activities takes a lot of time about 75 hours month a and a lot of phone work The Hie officer must find different people to speak or and/or perform ann in the various campus activities He or she must be outgoing and able ble to interact with a variety of people be a hustler and a charmer The job demands a knowl knowledge dge and feel for the types of people and the kinds of activities that will appeal to the students Being involved and aware of the needs of students is vital to doing a good job The public relations and activities work together on campus activities under the direction of the Coordinator of Student Activities Jerry VP finance requires a background in accounting The job takes about 50 hours a month and requires that the books and accounts of the funds be kept This job is important and it is necessary that accurate records be kept The person works with clubs on campus and all student organizations that are involved in the student funds The Executive Secretary needs good typing skills and good note taking is required Shorthand is not required The Executive Secretary is responsible for minutes of the Executive Council meetings and the Senate meetings It is necessary to keep well-ordered well fil files s and do some correspondence for the Senate The job takes about 50 hours a month and an ability to work with people All members of the Executive Council receive a tuition waiver and fees are paid In addition each person receives a stipend The president receives per quarter and the rest receive per quarter They all have an office and telephone a clothing allowance per year yeat and incidental travel expenses The greatest rewards are in growth and leadership lifetime experiences and an outstanding addition to any resume The recognition and exposure are benefits that attract some people but the officers this year all feel that the greatest benefit is to self-esteem self and personal growth They all expressed that this has been one of the best experiences of their college careers |
