Show Justice Alive and Dying There are a number of teachers in this tills institution whose sense of fair play leaves a person a bit perplexed and questioning Perhaps an illustration or two might allow the readers if any a thought to muse on and see if they have had any similar experiences I had a teacher that had an alleged systematic approach of grading ones one's goals She graded my paper and I suppose the rest of the classes also with almost pure emotion She admitted that her emotions had influenced my grade but only to the point of giving me mea a zero on a completed assignment I have to admit that I didn't take some of her goal categories seriously nevertheless I penned most of my responses just as I felt Now the problem here is Can a persons goals be graded I say NO Simply because there are no right or wrong answers If a person wants to be a Senator or a paper boy who can say one is more correct so that the latter deserves a D while the first receives an A or orVice orVice orVice Vice Versa Another example In an English class I was taking I Iwas Iwas Iwas was given an assignment to correct some sentences Nothing more was specified so that is what I did Well I corrected one sentence the wrong way Grammatically Grammatically Grammatically cally it was correct but I did not include a rule that she wanted and marked it wrong even though it was right So heres here's the dilemma Is there any justice for that teacher to expect more of a student that what she explains I wonder if she would be disappointed in my writing The answer is very obviously NO again I honestly feel it is every teachers teacher's obligation to provide every student with all the information necessary for that student to earn an A and if the information isn't supplied then the instructor will need to broaden his or her scope its it's only fair There are more like the instructor in the marketing department who will raise your grade on a test if you argue long enough or if you just listen to him explain the questions you got wrong then say Oh now I understand I haven't written this to be an aimless gripe but so that each teacher might review his or her own practices and determine if they are being fair with each and all students Lenney Solomon |
