Show oldest monticello resident x kl V F 44 A 1 4 i P 0 4 ja 7 1 al vp ij I 1 TI P W Z k t 41 ati 41 emma eliker wood aunt Aun emma to a large part of the people of san juan will reach her milestone january 21 1952 she was born in beaver utah january 21 1862 the daughter of henry and elizabeth eliker her childhood was spent in beaver and cedar city in 1885 she was married to samuel wood in the st george temple church of jesus christ of latter day saints shortly after their marriage they went to bluff where they resided until 1910 when they moved to monticello her husband died that year in bluff aunt emma figured prominently in all the charsh and civic activities of the community while deprived of a formal e education du cation she became an er woman i n various ways she was an expert seamstress and as a home economist she rated among the best she loved to cook and serve meals which has won her acclaim far and near she made her own birthday cake this year bedfor coming to monticello to live permanently manent ly she spent several years in in provo while her family were attending the brig ham young university she was a practical nurse as well and when occasion required her services she was not found wanting she worked faithfully as a relief society teacher in bluff and after coming to mont monticello I 1 cello she carried on in athe the same field she was coun counselor in the monticello ward relief society for eight years her hearing is good her eyesight not too badly impaired im pared and even to this day she may be found crocheting various articles she also reads the newspapers faithfully and enjoys the news over the radio her two children leroy wood and mrs frank elizabeth halls nine grand children and 14 great grandchildren are very close to her through the years they have always gathered at her home for family parties and dinners the halls and wood families will hold open house for her january 21 from to pm she has a wide circle of friends who will be happy happ y to call on this much be beloved I 1 oved lady |
