be able to adopt the children range in age from 12 to six and four of them are little boys they began living at the large comfortable westwood home in springville Spring ville shortly before christmas the West westwoods woods lived in moab after their marriage until a year or two eago mrs westwood will be remembered as laveeta martineau to her blanding friends the couple have no children of their own BLANDING BLANDING COUPLE RECEIVES MISSION CALL guy R hurst of the san juan stake presidency and mrs hurst received their call to the mission field last friday they will enter the mission comein home in salt lake city jan 28 23 1952 and shortly afterward will go 90 to the north california mission BLANDING GIRL GIHL EARNS HIGH MARKS carmen black oldest daugh ter of supt bupt and mrs zenos black is making a very high record for herself at the university of utah na cheri she is a junior during the fall quarter of this year she made straight A grade MRS HURST HONORED the blanding ward relief society officers mabel W hurst clarenc sheppard tamar perkins and marion jones sponsored a shower for mrs mabel H hurst who leaves for a mission soon it was in connection with the all day work meeting and a large group of members were in attendance the party commenced at 3 p m the program consisted of several lovely musical numbers from girls belonging to the musical group at high school mrs hurst told of her life long desire to go 90 on a mission and expressed capr essed her thanks for the privilege she opened many beautiful gifts assisted A by her niece mrs dorothea guymon the conclusion the hostess served light refreshments brice redd five year old son of vint and reva redd celebrated his birthday tuesday afternoon with a party thirty little guests enjoyed the games and refreshments prepared by his mother friday jan 11 II reva redd an and d agnes hurst were hostesses at a dinner honoring bishop ervin palmer on his birthday it was held at the home of mrs redd the grayson ward bishopric and president and mrs leland IV redd were the other guests mr and mrs parley redd and mr and mrs lynn lyman went to salt lake to see kent redd as he left the mission home for liis his mission wednesday mrs redd and mr and mrs lyman returned home thursday but mr parley redd came home early in the w week e e k when h e learned of the death of his brother ben F redd monday evening PIONEER DRILLING CO MOVES TO ROOSEVELT the pioneer drilling co which has been drilling a well for the shell oil co down on mccracken mesa for the past year has abandoned the well band and has gone to roosevelt to work tor for the present they may come back to work sot somewhere rie where in in this 1 locality in the spring i milt rogers who has been working for the pioneer drilling co for some time aas has gone to roosevelt to resume his labors with them lie he left wednesday morning lillian helquist and irene redd had word this week of the death of their sister minnie wilson at los angeles california she is the wife of amasa wilson and will be remembered by most ot of the san juan people who have lived in mexico mr and mrs frank barton entertained a group at otheir home saturday evening at a 1 dinner party part in honor of mr and mrs guy R hurst who are leaving soon for the mission field other couples to enjoy the hospitality were pres and mrs leland redd phil and mabel hurst tom and fay jones and john and luella rogers john D rogers is spending this week in green river caring for the cattle he is wintering there ervin guymon is visiting for a week or two at the home of his sister mrs cardon jones at mack colorado he recently underwent a serious operation at the san juan county hospital and will visit as he recuperates cu twenty guests enjoyed a chicken supper at the home of mr and mrs frost black wednesday evening each guest received a bingo prize the remainder of the evening was spent in remembering and laughing over old times the eta lambda club met at the homo home of nancy martineau friday jan 18 mrs thelma walton homo home demonstration agent for san juan county gave the group some interesting information hostesses deaun johnson and nancy martineau served a delicious lunch mr and mrs earl perking and mr and mrs carl perkins spent last week in northern utah and idaho the men attended to business in brigham city and tremonton Tre monton mrs earl perkins spent a day or two with her mother mrs annie young in salt lake they all spent a day or two with marie perkins peterson in tremonton Tre monton I 1 and enjoyed a brief visit with friends in albion idaho where the perkins boys and their families lived during the winter of 1948 49 mr and mrs ashton harris had as dinner guest saturday evening the grant bayles family and mr and mrs jos B harris the party was in honor of finley H bayles who left this week for the armed forces families of dick gu guymon ymon bert palmer finley bayles and deal cleal bradford went to monticello monday evening to see their boys off to the service the first three boys left on the bus but the last minute deal received a deferment on account of having a wife and baby 75 |
