Show air mail contract to white canyon L let et to cortez flier the united state postal department part ment announced that victor M reynolds manager of the cortez F lying flying service has been awarded an air mail contract for hauling mail to the white canyon area in utah the contract calls for reynolds to haul mail via air to the white C canyon an y 0 n vanadium corporation of arn americas er mills in in white canyon each monday wednesday and friday of each week starting january 2 and continuing thru february 1 1954 the schedule calls for reynolds to leave cortez at noon with a 10 minute stop in blanding utah and arriving at white canyon at pm following a two hour stop leave for cortez via blanding at 3 pm and another I 1 10 minutes stop and b back ick to cortez by 4 pm according to the cortez journal this is the third such air air mail contract awarded a private P pilot ilot in the united states two other contracts have beep been awarded to pilots carrying mail in the great lakes region the mail will be flown b by y reynolds and R N usher and speck reynolds will be used as standby pilots the the plane will land at the air strip in white canyon built by and used often by reynolds who flys personnel and supplies to the mines at white canyon the field will be named parker field in honor of cf mr ler leroy oy parker the mine superintendent who was instrumental in obtaining the air mail service to white canyon the air strip is feet long and feet wide the elevation of the field is feet reynolds said the entire distance is air miles from cortez to blanding and down to white Cari canyon yon |
