Show department AN by mrs douglas galbraith Galbrait li and mrs wm J nix orge sitton is sporting a new isbarn and shed vernon and wilbur rowley were in cortez on business t the he first of the week geo A hurst jr made a trip to salt lake this week on school business he was accompanied by ray burtenshaw who will attend school in logan kay lyman made a quick trip from salt lake sunday returning the same day he was accompanied by his uncle albert R lyman who stayed only long enough to say hello and goodbye almon lyman went to salt lake with his brother ac 0 O yard jord has been received here 0 of r the safe return of elder mark P lyman to america after awen ty six months in england as a missionary sio nary for the church the last report f from rom elder melvin hurst stated that he was waiting with suitcase packed for orders to return to america also dr and mrs harry cohn of los angeles were here last week f for or a few days visit with their brother dr I 1 L M cohn our local dentist dr and mrs sigmund kiel entertained the cohns at dinner wednesday night and thursday night they were entertained at a luncheon by mr and mrs douglas galbraith the cohns are charming people and dr harry cohn is one of the leading physicians of los angeles they left for their home friday morning D john rogers father of bishop john D rogers left tuesday morning for el paso texas where he will fill a short term mission for the church mr rogers who is 72 years old has been active in the church all his life when a young man he filled a mission to old mexico and is familiar with the spanish language sunday evening a testimonial was held in the ward chapel after which some friends and relatives met at the home of bishop rogers to show their good will and wish mr rogers godspeed god speed on his journey miss margaret bayles will attend school in salt lake city this winter clea the small daughter of mr and mrs marion black has been ill the past week with tonsillitis litis the kimmerle vanadium mine west of blanding has been shut down for a week the employees are in hopes it will open up again soon mr and mrs henry peterson took their four year old daughter wanda to salt lake for medical aid under dr austins akstins Aus tins direction last saturday this little girl is suffering from a heart ailment and has been ill for some time at last reports she was in a very serious condition mr and mrs lorenzo hawkins entertained the school f faculty and their partners at a melon bust and marshmallow roast on pine nut knoll last thursday mr hawkins had a 41 pound melon and the one who correctly guessed its weight received it as a prize mrs lloyd dimond was the lucky one scott L bayles and his mother mrs eva L bayles went to provo this week and returned with mrs velyn B stevens and two sons I 1 merland and dale arnuad the DUP had their annual outing at devils canyon last thursday hurad y husbands were invited this year the monticello ladies joined them there in their fun on account of illness mrs W J nix has been unable to contribute news from blanding for a couple of weeks but has resumed her correspondence for this issue |
