Show county school board holds all day the board of education san juan county school district met in regular session oct 4 at 0 one ne pm in the clerks office at monticello utah with the following members present leland W redd president ng geo A hurst jr estella nielson and clement johnson member joseph W adams was absent hansen and clerk palmer were also present the minutes of the last meeting were read and approved mr johnson reported on the east summit school problem and advised the board that he had agreed for the board to furnish the necessary materials for the construction of a log school house if the people of the community would furnish the logs and construct the building to dated no definite agreement had been reached it was definitely decided that the school house at west summit would not be moved to east surn summit nit it was also decided that the school at summit springs would not be reopened until such time as the students could be transferred to east summit the bid of james F carroll can oil to furnish 75 cords of pine wood at per cord to the blanding elementary school was accepted the bid of reed lance and elmer dalton to furnish tons of slack to the schools at blanding and monticello were accepted with provision that no ormal formal f acceptance cep tance could be given until the proper tests were made it was agreed by the board to allow the students of the lockerby district per day for transportation por tation this amount to cover the transportation of all students from that place it was moved by mr hurst that inasmuch as no provision had been made in the budget for the transportation por tation of high school students that the various requests be de nied motion was seconded mrs nielson and duly carried mrs H E blake and mrs chester black met with the board relative to consolidating the san juan county library and the monticello school library no definite action was taken until the problem could be further investigated moved by mr hurst that the drainage system of the monticello school be corrected and improved and that supt bupt hansen proceed at once with the work johnson and carried on being presented supt bupt hansen was authorized to make the school census of the indian children in the southern part of the county the president and clerk of the board were authorized to negotiate a short term loan from the first national bank of moab the amount to be sufficient to defray the expenses of the school district for the current month the salary of benj G black janitor at the elementary school at blanding was set at per month the clerk was instructed to pay lorenzo hawkins janitor at the san juan high school from september 6 1938 moved by mrs nielson that 15 new desks be burch purchased ased for the bluff school the motion was seconded by johnson and carried current bills were approved and ordered paid meeting adjourned |
