Show Teams Experience Ups, Downs With Farmer Squad' Meets The Midgets' second fracas was against more formidable opposition. opposi-tion. Lincoln High of the Alpine Loop greatly outweighed our .gridders .grid-ders but could not succeed in striK-ing striK-ing pay dirt. One Lincoln scoring threat was halted by a Cub recovery of a fumble fum-ble on South's one foot line. By holding the larger and well-drilled Lincoln team to a scoreless tie, observers ob-servers agree that the "C" team will more than hold their own with opponents in league play. After three weeks of vigorous practice South now has a good deal to hope for when starting city competition com-petition next week. All three squads have had chances to sound warnings to the other city schools. The "A" team has in three starts lost two games. The first game was lost to Granite 7-0. by way of an aerial attack. An excuse is offered of-fered that tht Cub backfield had been changed the night before. However, Granite played a fine game, and deserved their win. A week later the Cubs journeyed to Bingham and were beaten 12-0. The defeat again was via the pass route and the Southerners failed to click several times when, if they had, it would have meant touchdowns. touch-downs. The last game they played was at South and against Judge Memorial. Me-morial. South won the encountef 21-0 although the "B" team made one of the touchdowns. The "B" team besides fighting Judge Memorial in which they showed up as a team brimming with enthusiasm, went to Ogden and held their seniors to 13-0. "C" Team From performances in pre-season games, South's mighty "mid-geteers" "mid-geteers" are pointing for another successful season. Their first encounter en-counter was against Wasatch Aca-damy Aca-damy of Mount Pleasant. Relying upon superior speed and deception, Coach Long's proteges scored twice in the opening quarter and added single touchdowns in each succeeding succeed-ing period. The final score was 31-0. |
