Show Duo Dope By Allan and James Cubs Boast Cham pio nship Material After wandering around for three weeks, eyes and ears wide open, we're beginning to think more than ever that South has the material ma-terial :to take the ."Big Three" championship this year. The "A" team, having several defeats marked mark-ed up against it, still has an excellent excel-lent chance to upset both East and West and steal several games for us. We're also impressed at the fine spirit and go the "B" team possesses pos-sesses and, if they don't upset some of these pessimists hanging around, it won't be because they're not in fighting all the time. Unless the two coaches from the other high schools have a lot of unreported un-reported talent, the Mighty Midgets Mid-gets should have no trouble trouncing trounc-ing both East's and West's "C" this year. But they aren't too cocky, for they remember what happened the first game last year. Gilbert Grooms "B" Team For West Clash Southerners are prone to overlook over-look the difficulties that confront Coach Jimmy Gilbert at the beginning be-ginning of each football season. Due to the fact that football is not on a competitive basis in the junior jun-ior high schools, each year Jimmy must start from scratch with boys that are willing but admittedly green. He has but five weeks to segregate would-be linesmen and backs and present the finished edition. ed-ition. No returning veterans strengthen Jimmy's starting lineup, as is the case with the "A" and "O" squads. This year's junior squad has had but one pre-season game, that being against Ogden High. Although South was defeated 13-0, the squad gave a performance that shows promise in regular league competition. compe-tition. THIS MAY BE THE YEAR! |
