Show DECORATIONS WON BY DAVID REID David Reid, 1433 Bryan Ave., of Westminster college development committee, has been decorated by the British government for his work overseas with the Allied and British military units during World War II. The medals were awarded in recognition rec-ognition of his service during a 16-month tour of duty in northwestern north-western Europe, when he organized organ-ized Anglo-American clubs in 10 towns in England's "Bomb Alley," where British Tommies and American Amer-ican G. I.'s congregated. He was also with the tank corp and in a Royal Air Force camp. Mr. Reid was Capt. David Reid and known as "Dad" Reid when he served under the British YMCA national council as one of six American Amer-ican YMCA secretaries chosen to promote and carry on work for the British army similar to the USO. He operated a large center at Lille, France, for communications troops and in Bruges, Belgium, he worked with front line reserves, as well as serving troops fighting in Holland. When the war ended, he went to Hereford, Germany, where he organized and set up social and welfare service for soldiers belonging belong-ing to the headquarters of Gen. Bernard Montgomery. |
