Newcomer in the southeast area but not new in her business is Mrs. Hazel Higbee Hofer of the Jack and Jill shop at 1958 East 27th South street. For Mrs. Hofer has been identified ident-ified in children's and infants' ready-to-wear business for years and years, seven of them with Sears, where she formed many long and lasting friendships. Mrs. Hofer loves her work, especially when she can help a mother-to-be plan a layette. That is one of the things she gets her greatest thrills from. Mrs. Hofer came to the Jack and Jill shop when it opened last No--vember and her store is one of the most lively of the several that bear that name. One son, Robert Higbee, is; United Air Lines station manager at Wake Island and her daughter, Mrs. Marion Van Be Zooyen, is em ployed at the world famous White House in San Francisco. Mrs. Hofer, who lives at T352-South T352-South ISth East, has ceramics -nd roses for her hobby and she r: m-ages m-ages to market every piece :-he produces Christmas season or not and her roses rank high in the prize winners in the garden field. MARGE Cheery hello girl at South East Furniture, gets some odd telephone requests and knows the answers. '; J$ . ; : ,:,, -r- j V . '' i The voice with the smile at South East Furniture is Marge Wiles. . Marge has been an employee of South East for about five years, where she is kept busy at the PBX board, locating the right salesman for the right party, listens to compliments com-pliments and also the inevitable complaints. There is always that bit of the humorous connected with such a job. For instance, the day the lady called in, "May I speak to the salesman who waited on me last year? No, I don't know his-name, his-name, but he wore a gray suit and: was standing by the door." Marge is a ski enthusiast and" loves to fly. She flies to the coast for her vacations and takes several-jaunts several-jaunts other times a year. And then there are Marge's ear-rings-She loves ear-rings, large ones, small ones and odd ones. She col-, lects them and wears them. She makes her home in an apart--ment on Third avenue. ; X j v.- KENNETH W.
