Show Need is Greater Than Ever For Support of Red Cross In its most crucial peacetime , drive in its century of service to the people of the United States, and the world, the American Amer-ican Red Cross for its 1946 fund, will attempt to raise $100,000,-000 $100,000,-000 in the United States during the month of March, proclaimed proclaim-ed by President Truman as American Red Cross month. The drive in Salt Lake County Coun-ty for the Salt Lake County chapter, will be under the direction di-rection of John Longden, of Salt Lake City. Hundreds of volunteer workers work-ers in Salt Lake City and County Coun-ty will attempt to contact every business firm, every home and every individual to raise Salt Lake County's share of the mercy fund. Considerably more than half of the fund will be retained in Salt Lake County for civilian and military services, serv-ices, while much of the national fund will be devotee! to the three remaining military duties of the organization services to the nation's veterans, to the men in the hospitals, and the men overseas in the occupation forces. The American Red Cross, will in peace as in war, continue its works of mercy in time of civilian civ-ilian disaster. The Red Cross is the only agency which was not part of the Community Chest fund collected in December. Decem-ber. The thousands of donors, who year after year, support the mercy work of the Red Cross, have been asked to establish a minimum donation of $3 00 per membership to meet the postwar post-war needs, which include not. only the three-fold services to the men of our armed forces being returned to civilian life, the men overseas and the men in hospitals, but the humanitarian humani-tarian service to those displaced displac-ed persons in the occupied zones of Europe and Asia who need assistance from Red Cross Kits and boxes. |
