Show Sugar House Post Office Head Notes Tremendous Business Growth of Area An indication of the tremendous tremen-dous growth in business activity during the past ten years is revealed re-vealed in the figures released trns week by Supt. W. F. Walker Walk-er of the Sugar House post office. of-fice. Mr. Walker's statistics on stamp and postal note sales show the increase in sales since the opening of the Sugar House office in 1940. In 19.39 stamp sales for the Sugar House post office amounted amount-ed to $47,060.39. By 1945 stamp sales had jumped to $127,315. 9S. Last year they were up to the record high of $175,070.82. Supt. Walker states that "the 1950 sales will not show much increase, because the area, including in-cluding 5th East and 2nd West, and 21st South and 39th South, wac cut off in November, 1919. and made into the South Salt Lake station." Postal note sales have increased in-creased remarkably over the years. Sales in 1946. for example, ex-ample, totaled 8614. 3S6. In 1919 postal note sales rose to $251,-580. |
