Show People and Progress , HORSE RACE BETTING was the subject of discussion last Tuesday at one of the tables at chamber meeting. One of the men asked former State Senatoi Grant Midgley if the legislature had a passed a bill legalizing the betting. Grant said that the bih had been passed by the Senate, but was defeated by the house Grant added that the Senate takes delght in passing the bill at every legislative session, knowing full well that the House will not let it by. "Some senators sena-tors get a thrill out of voting for it," he added. A "HEN SESSION" held recently re-cently by a group of our women subscribers brought forth some praise of The Bulletin, as reported re-ported by one of the women. She said that the "girls simply couldn't do without the paper." One of the girls a former southeasterner now living in Davis County said that The Bulletin is her only contact with goings-on around town. Elaine's "Doing the Town" column came in for particular approval because be-cause of the chatty news it contains con-tains each week. Thanks girls! "MEN OF DISTINCTION" . . . Another untouched portrait, this one of the husband-and-wife variety, which will not be sought out for the whisky ads: The Vancouver, B.C., couple whose 12-year-old son attempted , suicide sui-cide by drinking nail polish while, police say, they were out on a round of the taverns. The boy scribbled a note: "Nobody likes me, so I hope it will kill me." After the child was rushed to the hospital, the parents showed up, police report, "in a state of intoxiation."
