Show , Holladay Group Requests More Police Protection Appointment of a full-time deputy sheriff for the Holladay area, enlargement and improvement improve-ment of several bridges in the Holladay area and county assistance as-sistance in a Chistmas lighting program for the district, were asked of the county commission this week by D. W. Richards Jr., president of the Holladav Lions club. On the matter of police protection, pro-tection, Mr. Richards pointed out that while the sheriff's office of-fice generally has men assigned assign-ed to the Holladay area, thev are sometimes called to other localities lo-calities for emergency work leaving the area unprotected. He urged that a regular branch sheriff's office be established in the proposed new Holladay fire station. Meanwhile J. A. Haight Jr., manager of the Holladay theater thea-ter and member of the club's safety council, has offered, off ice facilities in the theater building until a permanent program cat be worked out. George Beckstead, chief deputy dep-uty of the county, reported that the personnel situation on the sheriff's 'force is improving as former officers are returning from service, and said efforts will be made to give the area the increased protection requested. |
