Show Veteran Sugar House Postal Chief Will Retire Dec. 3 1 It was on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1903, when Cecil A. Crockwell joined the U. S. postal service in the main Salt Lake post office, then located in the Dooly Bldg., and next month, after nearly 43 years in the harness, the superintendent of the Sugar House station will retire for a well-earned rest. For more than 20 years Mr. Crockwell has been located in Sugar House, first in the old substation located in tne north end of what is now the Sterling Furniture building, and he was one of the prime movers in the drive for the beautiful new station sta-tion which was dedicated five years ago this month. Throughout Through-out his tenure of office out here he has been a loyal Sugar House supporter and booster, and his friends number in the thousands. thou-sands. His fellow postal workers will, honor him at a dinner party scheduled for Wednesday evening. eve-ning. Dec. 12, in the University 'of Utah Union Bldg., and at the same time honors will be paid to Mahonri M. White, a carrier at the Sugar House station, who retires today after 28 years of service. The committee planning the affair includes Jack Clark, Harry Har-ry Fernelius, Ed Abbott and Tyler Ty-ler Evans. |
