Show Local Boys Get Stuck On Belt at Cement Plant Two adventurous lads got themselves all bawled up Wednesday Wed-nesday afternon when they got to snooping around the conveyor convey-or belt at a substation of the Ready Mixed Concrete Co., 13th East and Wilmington Ave. Before Be-fore their day was over they had to be rescued by local police po-lice and firemen. The boys, Victor Kennedy, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard B. Kennedy. 2684 Imperial St. and Larry Charon, 11, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Charon, 1203 E. 17th South.wanted to investigate investi-gate the interior of the shed to see what made the conveyor belt work. Only perceivable entrance was to slip in between the belt and a small opening leading into the shed. Larry Charon took off his coat and squeezed through. Then Victor, older and larger, doffed his coat and squeezed period. He made it halfway, no more, no less. After tugging in vain, the lad3 resorted to screaming for help. About 5 p.m. their yells were heard and the police and firemen fire-men were summoned. "We wanted to see what made the belt work," the boys said. |
