Show Southeastcrners In TJie Neivs By EU.AINK A. CAXNO.V Well, folks, it's all over but cleaning up the tinsel and papers pa-pers and it's been a wonderful Christmas, hasn't it? There is still more celebrating to do, of course . . . the holiday season is but in its infancy today. Still with Christmas a thing of the past, much of the excitement of this time of the year is gone. Here's a little something or other to report to you about who is making the news this week ... if you can find a moment to read on. Howard W. Price, 2030 Dearborn, Dear-born, has climbed another rung on the proverbial ladder of suc-ces. suc-ces. He has just been elected president of the Utah Sales Managers Assn. during the group's annual Christmas meeting meet-ing in the Hotel Utah. Mr. Price is director of sales for the Salt Lake Hardware Co. Another appointment in the business world will interest southeasterners. Harold H. Ellsworth Ells-worth from over on Harrison way, will be the executive secretary, se-cretary, Utah Citizens Rate Assn. for the coming year. He told us that his duties will consist con-sist of acting as liason officer between shippers and carriers and will furnish guidance and direction to the shippers. From business to the world that features stuff that dreams are made of . . . romance . . . Mr. and Mrs. Ross R. Winter-ovvd, Winter-ovvd, 1048 E. 17th So. have given their daughter, Ruth, in marriage. mar-riage. In one of the lovely nuptial nup-tial affairs of the season, Ruth took her vows with Robert Lo-dell Lo-dell Montgomery. The ceremony was solemnized in the First Congregational church, this week. Ruth, a pretty brunettte, wore white slipper satin and carried a 'wedding ring" of white and purple orchids. There was a wedding reception held in their honor at the Ladies Literary Li-terary club following the ceremony. cere-mony. And we here tell they'll be honeymooning in Mexico. Here's a real neighborhood tie-up. The Jack Hacketts of 1523 Park st. have a daughter, Donna Cleone. The William H. Grows of 1517 Park St. have a son, William Junior Grow. The two young people decided they would like to live closer together, togeth-er, so Dec. 5 they were married in Ivins LDS ward chapel. Mrs Norma McClashland, attended her sister as honor matron. Bridesmaids were Miss Irene Nelson, Miss Joan Wilkinson and Kula Poulos. Golden Holt Jr. was best man. It's like we've said before . . somehow boy from southeast meets girl from same area and for many a good reason they click. Romantic figures in this item are Ruth Konold (before her marriage) . and Norman Burkhardt. St. John's Lutheran church was the setting for their marriage. Mrs Jerry Johnson was Ruth's attendant and Webb Holmes was best man for Norman. Nor-man. A reception was held at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs V. H. Rasband 1595 15th East street, after the ceremony Norman, a son of the R. N. Burkhardts of 851 E. 21st So. is a talented student of the Mc-Cune Mc-Cune School of Music and Art. |
