Show Weeks Doings At Westminster 'j Nobody is truly educated until he has learned to "cooperate with the inevitable," said Prof. M. S. Hostetler in an address to the Westminster college student body on Monday morning. An architect must recognize the properties of the materials with which he deals. We dare not ignore personality traits in ourselves our-selves or others. This is a good prayer: "Give me the serenity se-renity to accept what cannot be changed. Give me the courage to change what canie changed. ' Give me the wisdom to know one from the other." A Latin dictionary was presented pre-sented to Willie Bingham by Dr. Myra Yancey as a prize for suggesting sug-gesting the winning name for the language club. The name, Pi Gamma Epsilon, is said to stand for the Greek words meaning mean-ing "All-Language Assembly." Three college gospel teams are now ready to present religious programs in the churches of the vicinity. Last Sunday one team traveled to Park City to present a program entitled, "I Need Thee Every Hour," in the Community Methodist church. In the evening eve-ning another group visited the Salt Lake Japanese Church of Christ with a service, "Christ Sets Us Free." On Dec. 8 the third team will go to Delta. Students Stu-dents participating in this activity activ-ity are: Clara Simpson, Lucille Shafer, Betty Detweiler, Helen Smith, Dick Jennings, Bruce Lamus, Dorothy Ebenstein, Betty Bet-ty Duval, Beverley Erickson, Betty Jo Montag, Mary Ota, Hubert Hu-bert Tester, Peter Katz, Barbara Harris. Ann Miller, Bariece Matthew. Mat-thew. Louise Turner, Jack Har-rod, Har-rod, Lincoln Anderson, Robert Ertel, and Nancy Ewing. Dr. J. S. Boughton will leave Dec. 2 for Eugene, Ore., where he will represent Westminster college at the fisrt postwar annual an-nual meeting of the Northwest North-west Association of Secondary and Higher Schools. Careful conservation of coal already on hand wall permit operation op-eration of the college for a few more days, announced President Robert D. Steele. "If the coal strike continues, future plans will be announced later. Many students from a distance are spending the Thanksgiving holiday with classmates who live nearer the college. The faculty families will have their Thanksgiving Thanks-giving dinner in the dining room of Ferry hall. |
