Show S.H. Chamber Maps Promotion - Progress Fund Drive Facing a new year of tremendous possibilities for progress, the Sugar House Chamber of Commerce through its representative, representa-tive, Raymond E. Nilson, is once more asking business and professional pro-fessional firms of this area to contribute funds for a year-long program of development and promotion. Using a new "low-pressure" technique ' of solicitation, but relying on the past year's record as an example of what can be. done, Mr. Nilson has contacted most of the business houses in this area by letter. He asked the firm manager to indicate at the bottom of the letter the action he wishes to take, and then return the letter to the chamber office within 30 days. "We have many improvements to make on last year's activities," activ-ities," Mr., Nilson said, "but we can't embark on anything definite until we have all the letters back in our hands. We have resolved resolv-ed to hold to a strict budget." Mr. Nilson noted that in spite of all the big events which Sugar House sponsored during the Centennial year, the chamber finished up the year financially solvent: $5000 Goal Checks are begining to come in, Mr. Nilson announced. "If all the businesses do everything they can, realizing that their investment in-vestment will bring full return in the long run, we will easily reach our $5000 goal" Mr. Nil-son Nil-son said. Regular quarterly dues take care .of monthly luncheon expenses ex-penses and office overhead, Mr. Nilson pointed out. The funds gatherefi from the present drive . will be wisely spent toward community com-munity progress and promotion. Projects Listed Some of the projects already outlined for 194S are: 1. "The board of directors and the committees shrilly carry out . the wishes of the membership as. a whole," Mr. Nilson said. An invitation was extended to any business or any person who wishes to do so, to contribute to the progress fund. Mr. Nil-son Nil-son said that he was aware that a few new businesses may have been missed in his solicitation. "What we do and how big we do it will depend on what we get back in voluntary offerings," Mr. Nilson concluded. |
