Show Cinchona Bark The medicinal value of cinchona bark, from which quinine is extracted, ex-tracted, was revealed in 1630. In that year Senor Canizares, a Spanish Span-ish magistrate, is said to have been cured of malaria by the use of I Cinchona. Eight years later, cin- chona bark was administered to the I ailing countess of Cinchon, and both ' the physician and the patient were . greatly impressed by the results. The countess thereupon ordered , large quantities of the bark for free ! distribution. i |
