Show Plastic Gains in Favor Plastic materials are being used to a greater extent than ever before by the motor industry in its 1941 models. A survey of the new cars reveals the fact that a glass-like transparent transpar-ent plastic is now being used for instrument panel lenses in certain makes and models. Other types of plastics are being employed to embellish the handsomely hand-somely finished one-piece steel window win-dow mouldings of the new turret-top bodies by Fisher and to decorate the knobs of the window regulator handles and cranks controlling the operation of the no-draft ventilation system, as well as for dome and courtesy light lenses. Other uses to which plastics are being put by automobile manufacturers manufac-turers include steering wheels, fog-lamp fog-lamp shells, stop lights, direction signals and radiator ornaments. |
